My Holistic approach to prevent myself from CoVid-19

Now days we can’t walk a mile without bumping into fake or not fake news about Corona virus. Sadly the media likes to talk about the negative side, and mainly highlight the cases where of people who got sick or died, but they forget to mention the people who healed and left quarantine.

Little contradictory but Ayurveda evolved thousands of years ago. It described symptoms and treatments for the ailments of, and known at that time. So, asking/looking for treatment for umpteen number of modern viral attacks (ebola, rubella, herpes, and the latest, corona; the list is endless), countless number of cancers with different grades (more than 100 are classified by modern medical world); is of no use. Ayurveda is based on theory of Tri Dosha or imbalance of three doshas Vata ,Pitta and Kapha .It is not based on Germ or Virus theory. So sadly, I personally think there is no Ayurvedic medicine that could cure corona virus.

However, as we all hear from the news it affects mainly those who are old and have a weak immune system. It’s more common in people with cardiopulmonary diseases, compromised immune systems, infants and older adults. Corona virus attack is likely to affect people who have less immunity to fight respiratory infections. So what we all can do is to strengthen our immune system so that can fight any disease, bacteria or virus when it comes to that.

Immunity is your weapon

When you want to protect your laptop, you get a firewall to smash any external threats. Also, the anti-virus program scans the internal infectious files, removes them and prevents future problems too. The job of immunity is the same. The antibodies in our body build this immunity firewall. They release chemicals to fight the virus cells and ends the battle by killing the harmful enemy. So building your immunity is the best way to fight the virus.

We protect our belongings so much, we care about objects much more then we do about our own body. When in reality our health is the only thing that if we lose we can’t get another one.

Ayurveda terms respiratory illness as ‘swasa rogas’. Diseases arise if your internal energies (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) are disrupted. When there is an imbalance in your Kapha and Vata, respiratory ailments are born.
Vata is the energy that plays a major role in inhaling and exhaling. Respiratory illness accompanied by dehydration, shortness of breath and blockage is because of more vitiated Vata.
When Kapha dosha (the energy responsible to bind things) goes out of balance the mucus from the stomach enters the respiratory passage and produces diseases like respiratory infections, asthma, pneumonia and so on. Ayurveda brings back the energies (doshas) to balance.

How To Boost Your Immune System Naturally

1. Sleep Properly

First on the list of tips to boost immune system strength is this: aim for deep, restful sleep. Aim to wake up in the morning feeling fresh and energized. Sleep, contrary to popular opinion, is not a period of inactivity. During these hours, your body releases chemicals that play a role in repairing the body, re-energizing it, and strengthening its ability to fight sickness. Sleep deprivation can lead to a dangerously weakened immune system.

2. Eat Healthy

Ask any Ayurvedic doctor how to boost immune system naturally, and they’ll tell you to eat a healthy diet. Food either makes you healthier, or contributes to a disease-inclined environment in your body. Here’s a list of what to eat and what to avoid for strong immunity.

3. Be Active

One can’t ignore the importance of exercise in an age where people spend more and more time with gadgets. Being active is crucial for immunity. There are so many ways to get more active in your everyday life. Break the monotony of sitting in front of your computer with simple desktop yoga exercises. Instead of the elevator, take the stairs. Skip the bus and walk home every Friday. Sign up for yoga or dance classes. Anything works, as long as it gets your blood pumping but make sure not to over-do it.

4.  Stress less

Another important answer to the question of how to boost your immune system naturally is this: minimize stress in your everyday life. Stress can literally make you sick! Stress responses negatively affect brain function, sleep cycles, digestion, the cardiovascular system, and much more. Plenty of studies confirm that the lesser stressed you are, the lower are your chances of developing diseases.

So, do things that make you feel calm. Revisit an old hobby, or spend more time with family. It could be something as simple as singing on your way home from work. Meditation, researchers have found, goes a long way in reducing the body’s stress responses. Also introduce pranayama (breath techniques) and yoga into your daily routine, if you haven’t yet.

Take care of yourself & your loved ones, because the most important thing you can lose & can’t live happily without is your health.
