Ingredients

  • 1 L 100 % apple juice
  • 1 piece orange
  • 1 piece lemon
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 6 pieces cloves
  • 2 pieces star anise
  • 1 tbs maple syrup
  • 2 cl pálinka/rum/apple cider optional

Instructions

  • Take a medium sized sauce pan and add the apple juice to it.
Over medium heat bring the apple juice to a simmer together with the spices.
With a sharp knife cut off the skin of the orange and lemon, but make sure that you don't cut off the white parts under the skin because it will turn the taste bitter.
When it starts to bubble take off heat and set aside to chill. After a few minutes add the maple syrup, stir well to combine.
If you want you can mix in alcohol but if you want to make it virgin, then leave it just as it is.
Best is with pálinka, rum or apple cider.
    Serve hot.
You can also slice up the orange and add a slice to each mug for even better taste.
